Gigi Chao: A Situation Too Wry Not To Comment On

Before I start groveling, let's review. Miss Chao is a very successful businesswomen in her own right, so she does not need the extra cha ching. Of course the 65 million (500M HK) is not for her, its for the man who can woo her and close the deal. The enticement is offered by her father, Cecil Chao who has long been respected as a bon vivant  on the international model circuit. He is a mogul who made his fortune in Shipping and Real Estate. In fact he's elegant, driven, a confirmed bachelor with three children out of wedlock. as he has never been married.

One thing we know is Mr. Chao has a wry sense of humor, and the offer is indeed real. Frankly, I think it is not only a hoot, but is kind of cool, and certainly different. Hong Kong is of course one of he capitalist centers of our world, money talks, and bullshit walks there. What's wrong with a loving father offering to buy some happiness for his daughter? We can be sure there will be vetting, so cads, bounders rakes and roues need not apply.

See...

More interesting to me is the the fact that humor often can obscure the truth. Sure, we've heard Miss Chao prefers women to men (as do I) , perhaps she was born to her preference, perhaps she developed it over time. Maybe her significant other is just a remarkable woman who she has a deep and unique love for, who knows? However it seems to matter to her father, who could be in denial, or perhaps just wants to waltz some unique possibilities by her, as most loving fathers would, if they could. Another possibility is her father is just attempting to steer her away from his own lifestyle, but that is a tough sell, as we lead by example and what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Dog lover's are a plus !

This is certainly a unique family, that I admire, at least these two members of it. Miss Chao I believe knows how much her father wants the best for her (even if it is the best he has determined for her). I don't think she is embarrassed (amused sure !) , she knows the value of a successful promotion, Here in the States, we'd expect something like this from the fellow with the ugliest hair and biggest ego, The Donald, who we lost to the idiotic Birther's. Yet Mr. Chao, has more class than Mr. Trump, and he's had a better stable of women too. It's really too bad Ian Struan Dunross is not availble, because he might make her toes curl. I think Miss Chao is too wise to go for just a pretty face, or athletic bod. It is possible she goes the M & A route and snags a titan of business, but that is not my bet, nor is a rock star.

Sure, I glide on ballroom floors

Would you think I was selfish if I said she's going to end up with an intellectual, probably a writer? Nah, she would not go for me, I'm too old (but I would leave her the 65M principal), She'll find someone who has a sense of humor and is there when she needs him, someone loyal, and someone who is G & L tolerant, and not possessive. Miss Chao will want someone who like me has few family commitments on his side, and can be an asset and contributor to her family unit. Certainly, her family unit includes her significant other who the enlightened man will convince to share Miss Chao's attentions. Therefore, the intellectual will need to be protective and streetwise, will need to forge a real friendship with the significant other.

oops missclick.. He's married anyway !

Trust as always is earned not given blindly, and naturally this will need to be nurtured. Certainly children are what Mr. Chao is hoping for, as well as his daughter happiness, Should Miss Chao be adamantly against the matrimonial bed, the man could donate his sperm for insemination.

I golf

Basically, any logical mind can jump any hurdle here, its not too complicated. Like all relationships it is built on mutual understandings, trust and love. Like all fathers, no man is good enough for his little girl until they demonstrate they are. If only I were a few years younger, I'd throw my hat in the ring (at least for a look - see). Hong Kong is a great city, a pretty, independent wife, an exotic situation that confuses people, just my cup of tea !

I'm divorced, no kids YET
